Case Study: Nevada Surplus
Lines Association

SLAW Figures

By the beginning of 2010, NSLA’s existing regulatory software – based upon antiquated technology and an inefficient design – could no longer support their workload. The Association’s ability to execute their responsibilities to the Nevada Division of Insurance was diminished by a system that had outgrown its usefulness and was all but impossible to modify.

NSLA conducted a solution search and decided to replace their old system with the Surplus Lines Automation Suite (SLAS). The goal was to streamline communication and data exchange between the NSLA, brokerages, and the Nevada Division of Insurance on a software foundation flexible enough to adapt to an always-changing industry and regulatory environment. In selecting SLAS, the NSLA chose an extensible design and responsive partner that can support future modifications in an affordable and timely manner.

The NSLA’s main organizational goals are to provide superior service to its broker members and to support the Nevada Division of Insurance in the regulation of surplus lines insurance. The common element to meeting these twin objectives is an advanced and reliable automated solution that simplifies broker filing, streamlines regulatory oversight, and provides robust reporting tools.

With the implementation of SLAS, the NSLA has exceeded expectations. They have not only earned accolades from the Nevada DOI for their innovations and increased service; they are enjoying increased client satisfaction from their broker community.
